Lots of goals, lots of fights as 73's win 15th straight game

This game had it all, really. Both teams combined for 12 goals and 294 penalty minutes, and in the end, the Essex 73's defeated the Dresden Kings Tuesday night, 9-3. For Essex, it was their 15th consecutive win since an early-season loss to the Wheatley Sharks back on September 9th.

For Dresden, the leading goal scorers of the Stobbs Division coming into the game, it was a night of frustration as the 73's played a relentless game for 60 minutes.

The lowlight of the game was a Donnybrook that occurred just a couple of minutes into the third period with the 73's leading 7-2. Essex defenceman Austin Wright took offence to what he considered a questionable hit on his defence partner and 16-year-old John Fountaine. The gloves came off quickly, and before you knew it, all 10 skaters were in fisticuffs.

Things settled down slightly—for a few minutes, anyway—until Austin Guevremont was called for checking from behind, sparking a reaction from Dresden's top scorer, Colton Graham. Both would be assessed fighting majors, with Guevremont getting the extra two minutes for the initial hit.

Marcus Levesque led the way for Essex with 2 goals and 4 points, while Nash Giles scored a pair of goals and had 3 points himself. Ethan O'Neil also scored 2 goals, while William Claridge, Joey Gaudet, and Jack Lewis had the other 73's goals.

Dresden's Graham scored his 21st of the season, and singles went to Owen Campbell and Ethan Waddick.

Essex out shot Dresden 51-23.
