73's hold off Sharks

Tuesday night the Essex 73's hosted the Wheatley Sharks and needed two empty net goals in the third period to finish the job.

The game was marred by penalties, particularly in the second period as both teams were whistled for fighting majors at the 9:33 mark.

Essex led 3-2 after one period, and 4-3 after two periods.

Essex went up 5-3 with 1:39 left in the game, thanks to an empty net goal, but Wheatley managed to score one of their own with the cage unoccupied to make it a one-goal game again.

Finally Essex iced the game on their second empty net goal of the game with 21 seconds left on the clock.

Ethan O'Neil, Colby Cookson, Adrian Bosev, Josh Lepain (en) and Austin Guevremont (en) had the Essex goals while Jaksen Ward had two for Wheatley with single markers going to Hayden Klem and Austin Fraser.
