73's dethrone Kings
Many of the 400-plus fans who turned up to the rink on a beautiful Tuesday night in Essex were anticipating a great hockey game, based on the standings. In the end, Essex came out flying and seemed to capitalize on every opportunity enroute to an easy 8-1 win over the Dresden Kings.
Essex scored three in the first and five in the second and cruised easily in this one.
Heading into the game, Dresden was in third place in the Stobbs Division with a 4-2-1 record, and had scored the most goals in the division, thanks in part to veteran Colton Graham who had scored 11 goals in just six games.
For Essex they made it eight straight wins since an opening season loss at the hands of Wheatley.
Essex goal scorers were Nash Giles, Adrian Bosev, Noah Mathieson, Austin Guevremont, Brett Jones, Mitchell Hickson, Joey Gaudet and Josh Lepain.
Graham had the lone goal for Dresden, his 12th of the season, late in the second period while on the power play.
Essex out shot the visitors, 49-27 with Jake Vancoillie getting his PJHL-leading fifth win on the season.
