Essex to host OUA-NCAA Men's College Hockey Exhibition

The Windsor Lancers OUA (Ontario University Athletics) will take on the Lake Superior State Lakers NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) in a matinee exhibition hockey game Saturday, Oct. 3rd at the Essex Centre Sports Complex in Essex. Game time is 3:00pm.

The Lancers men's hockey team finished the 2025-26 season as OUA West Division regular-season champions, captured an OUA silver medal, and placed fourth at the U SPORTS University Cup.
The Lakers men's ice hockey team finished the 2025–26 season with an overall record of 11-22-3 and an 8-16-2 conference record in the CCHA (Central Collgiate Hockey Association). in the CCHA Mason Cup Playoffs, the Lakers advanced to the quarterfinals but lost 2-0 to the St. Thomas Tommies.
Ken Minello, Parker Van Buskirk, Spencer Pommells, Jordie Preston, Andy Delmore and former Essex 73’s standouts, Dan Mahon and Len Chittle, are a few of the notable Lancer’s alumni.
Doug Weight, Jim Dowd, Briam Rolston, Bates Battaglia and goaltender, John Grahame, are a few of the players to graduate from Lakes Superior State and go onto to prominent NHL careers. Former Essex 73's player, Terry Hossack, won a NCAA championship with the Lakers in 1988, the first of three championships the school has won.
