2015 Schmalz Cup Champions

The Essex 73's finally got to hoist the Schmalz Cup again after three consecutive years of coming up short in the All-Ontario finals.

For the 3's it was their 7th Ontario championship, and their first since 2009.

The 73's captured the Great Lakes league championship defeating the Amherstburg Admirals in six games.

They then took on the Exetrer Hawks and defeated them in four straight games in the Ontario quarter finals.

In the Ontario semi finals the 73's would meet the Wingham Ironmen and they would advance to the finals with a 4-1 series win.

In the finals the 73's ran into a great team in Port Hope. The Panthers gave Essex everything they could after spotting the 3's a 3-0 series lead. The Panthers got their game going and won games 4, 5 and 6 setting up a game seven showdown in Port Hope.

The game was another tight-schecking affair but a late 2nd period goal by veteran Jordan Ryan would be all the 73's would need as they won 1-0.

Noah Hedrick was stellar between the pipes for Essex, earning the shutout.

We are the Champions!
